We are super excited to announce that we will be hosting a Valentines Ball on 10th February 2018.
This is something we have wanted to do for a long time and with a great team now on board we are really excited to be hosting this to raise money for the charity.
We would like to use the money raised from the event to help fund the return of the ambulance service that was stationed in Taunton Town centre on Saturday nights. We would also like to try and set up a service with the taxis, police and street pastures a code/card that can be used to get young vulnerable isolated adults home safely.
Please come along for a fun evening and support us!
The amazing Centrefolds will be performing live, as well as a photo booth, amazing raffle and more!
We have a huge event happening in 2018! Details to follow shortly but we are all very excited!
We have a great team on board this year to pull this event off and can’t wait to share with you all what it is!
Watch this space!
We have our first presentation to year 11 students happening next week!
We are looking forward to meeting the students and using our new and improved presentation to spread our important message!
We are very grateful to Geo who was good friends with Mike Perry who was a young man who was also tragically found deceased after a night out in Taunton. We appreciate your support that you have always shown for us and we thank you for your kind donation of the money raised from the memorial matches you have done for Mike the past few years. This is a very kind donation and we are so grateful for your support to help spread our important message to prevent this happening again.
On Thursday 17th August 2017 we are arranging a ‘open meeting’ for the public to come along and get involved in the charity and what we are doing! This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved with the charity to come along and meet the team and also for people to give their ideas for campaigning and fundraising to help us spread our important message!
We hope to see you there!
The Get Home Safe Memorial Match 2017 was a great success! The sun was shinning and the rain held off and we had a great day once again. Thank you for all the support and donations on the day which we raised £540 which will really help us spread our important message.
Here are some pictures taken on the day by Martin Bamforth
The lovely Desiree attended the Responsible Party (sponsored by Pernod Richard) at Vodka Revolution (a bar in Southampton) which was an overall success. In total, there was approximately 230 attendees at the party and received no negative feedback about the efforts of the party squad. Towards the end of the night students were very appreciative of the free water bottles, in which many attendees were actively approaching a party squad member to receive one. The beer goggle activity at the beginning of the evening was fun and an innovative way to engage students in considering how their visual awareness is impaired by alcohol. Although the BAC estimators did not arrive, we felt this was a great concept, and would be an easier way to raise awareness of excessive drinking as the venue became crowded
We also decided to simultaneously promote the charity “Get Home Safe” at the event as it was very relevant to the “Responsible party” event, pursuing the aim of the charity. We made sure that the attendees had sufficient amount of money to get home safely and that they were drinking responsibly. We have overall raised £50 towards the charity!
Thank you Desiree for your efforts at this event and we hope to get on board with more things in the future!
It’s been a while since I posted on the blog! Christmas is always a busy time of year and with our team members working full time it has been difficult juggling everything around!
We are happy to say we have a date in the diary for the Get Home Safe memorial Match which will take place on Saturday 13th May! Updates to follow soon!
We are sad to say we didn’t get accepted to Glastonbury festival this year, but I (Charlotte) will be attending anyways and will be taking some Get Home Safe merchandise to try spread the message whilst there! If your going, please do come find me for a picture in the Instaframe and a chat!
We are busy thinking of ideas for another fundraising event soon and we know our colleagues in Scotland have a quiz night lined up soon.
I will be running the Taunton half marathon for Get Home Safe on 2nd April.
